Let the people decide

It’s October once again—time to celebrate Halloween and mark less than one month until the midterm elections. And, of course, we are hearing non-stop election fraud allegations from Trump as many GOP gerrymandering efforts have failed. Naturally, if the Republicans lose, it’s election fraud. If they win, it’s the most secure election of all time. It is so incredibly odd coming from a guy who claims he always wins and is such an amazing president. So why worry? Why all the fuss?
Currently, the Republican trifecta is in complete control of our federal government, all bowing to Trump and allowing him free rein to do whatever he pleases. Let’s look back to January 2025 when, shortly after Trump returned to office, he informed us that we are all now living in “The Golden Age.”
This president ran on ending foreign wars, lower gas prices, lower mortgage rates, cheaper groceries, reduced health care costs, and cutting utility costs in half. The word “affordability” constantly came out of his mouth during his presidential campaign.
Yet, less than two years into this administration, we are involved in a war of Trump’s choosing with Iran with no end in sight, causing gas and diesel prices to skyrocket and making everything cost more. Grocery prices are higher than ever, while countless people are now without health care, and monthly premiums for lousy coverage are higher than car payments. Utility prices continue to rise and mortgage rates are up as well. Numerous Americans are working two or three jobs and are still unable to make ends meet. Then Trump has the nerve to call affordability a hoax. Trump also claimed on his Truth Social that the media is refusing to report what he calls the “best financial numbers ever” for the U.S. economy.
While Trump touts an economic miracle for our country, he’s asking Americans to believe his word over their own rising bills and stagnant paychecks. He promised $5,000 DOGE checks. He promised $2,000 tariff rebates. Now, he’s promising $5,000 to every adult if Republicans keep power. If you believe any of it, go wait in a pumpkin patch until Trump himself or the Great Pumpkin shows up to deliver your money. My bet’s on the pumpkin.
So, I ask again: why the non-stop worry about election fraud? If this truly is “The Golden Age,” let We the People decide at the ballot box.
