Oh, how I hate the moment when the grocery store cashier announces the total due! Too often that amount empties out my wallet.
Is the problem that the cost is too much or that my wallet holds too little — that wages aren’t keeping up with inflation? Prices rarely come down significantly without a painful recession. But the top 10 percent who own the companies paying wages are doing just fine now, while those of us lower down suffer. That’s why I won’t be casting my future votes for the party that gives breaks to billionaires.
