In reference to the Oct. 8 Greenwood town board meeting, the past clerk commented that she and others felt the new board chair, Lois Roskoski, was harboring hostile sentiments or opinions toward her and others which caused a lack of proper communication.
I would like to set the record straight, since the well-mannered chairperson would not call on me when I raised my hand because there was already so much unnecessary comment, chatter, and disruptions. I don’t blame her for doing her job!
Prior to the new board elections, I was partly responsible for putting a campaign ad together on behalf of 11 firemen who got “voluntarily quit” by the town board. In the campaign ad, I put some very descriptive adjectives together that most definitely described how we felt about the incumbent supervisors because of their actions, which we felt put township residents at risk. At a get-together at the Vermilion Club, I showed the ad to Lois for her opinion. I was semi-surprised at her response. She said she was in complete disagreement with the negative language. She said she was not running to join any side one way or another and that she didn’t want to promote any type of disagreements or negativity. She said she was running because she thought she could bring some harmony and peace back to all the citizens of Greenwood and make it a very friendly and prosperous community again for the benefit of all. With her attitude and emotional retort, I was taken aback and left a little speechless. And that’s hard to do! She put me in my place, and I realized how right she was. Lois tries to do what is best for our community in a simple way. The nitpicking and negative rhetoric needs to stop. Let her do what is good for Greenwood.
