Broncos buck NER/Ely in latest home meet

BABBITT- Northeast Range/Ely won four varsity events, including both freestyle relays, but International Falls came away with a 59-34 win over the Nighthawks here on Tuesday.
Evelyn Moran and Lucy Luthens each claimed an individual victory and swam on both winning relay teams. Moran took the 50-yard freestyle in 28.45 seconds, while Luthens won the 100 freestyle in 1:02.68.
Moran, Jorden Borchert, Lindsay Israel, and Luthens teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:58.49, ahead of the Broncos’ 2:00.22. The same foursome, with Luthens swimming third and Borchert anchoring, closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:33.22. International Falls finished in 4:42.00.
Luthens added a runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:25.61. Ivy Ohlhauser also earned a second-place finish for the Nighthawks, completing the 500 freestyle in 6:54.41.
