Vote for Trina Swanson

I am writing to urge Minnesotans in the Eighth District to vote for Trina Swanson for Congress. I am a 77-year-old retired process control engineer. I’ve lived on the Iron Range for almost 50 years. I worked for U.S. Steel at Minntac for 32 years before I retired in 2009. Politically, I am an Independent. I have never belonged to a political party. I’ve never voted a straight party ticket in any election, and I believe in voting for people and not parties.
Why should you vote for Trina Swanson? I am convinced she will do a better job and her performance in the recent debate of Oct. 7 with Pete Stauber proves it. Swanson remained calm and composed throughout the debate. Stauber seemed nervous and appeared to get upset and angry several times. He repeatedly blamed anybody he could while answering questions. He blamed Biden 12 times, Walz six times, Minnesota fraudsters six times, and Obama twice. The only person Swanson mentioned during the debate was Trump. She did that four times. Stauber exceeded his time limit four times. Swanson didn’t do it at all.
Each candidate made an opening statement, a closing statement, and answered 13 questions. I thought Swanson did a much better job of answering the questions than Stauber.
I have interacted with Pete Stauber several times over the years. I’ve asked him for help and made requests. He has an automatic system to handle constituent’s calls. I used his system. I never received any response.
Stauber has a very serious flaw. He is a sycophant to Trump, who is on the verge of turning the U.S. into either an oligarchy or a dictatorship. Trump also has a grudge against Minnesota, which he showed by sending 3,000 ICE officers to Minnesota in January. He is refusing to release millions of dollars of funds owed to Minnesota. Meanwhile, Stauber made no attempt to help the Minneapolis situation that I know of. Remember - A vote for Stauber is a vote for Trump.
Members of Congress are responsible for acting as guardrails to prevent the executive and judicial branches of the government from violating the constitution. Stauber and this Congress have done a terrible job of doing this during the current session. They have allowed Trump to continue the Iran war, which is costing Americans millions of dollars every day. They continue to allow Trump to enrich himself and his family through corruption. He, along with his family, are considered to be the most corrupt first family in history. They also continue to allow Trump to use the people’s Department of Justice to seek retribution against his enemies.
I would like to close by saying that Trina Swanson is very capable and will serve her constituents to the best of her ability, while Pete Stauber will serve Trump and play lip service to his constituents. Vote for Swanson. I intend to.
