On Saturday, April 11, over 50 people gathered at the Minnesota North College Vermilion campus theatre to view the documentary “Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism’s War on Democracy” (released in 2024) that was presented by Ely Indivisible’s Separation of Church and State Issue Group. The film documents the historical political ‘machinery’ behind the rise of white Christian nationalism in our country. It aims to explain why the United States is so polarized, and how specific strategies going back many years have led to this.
The original January date for the screening was postponed due to the extreme frigid temperatures and concerns for safety. However, especially with the very recent declaration from the Secretary of War’s new crusade of a ‘holy war’ that has mixed Christianity with politics and war, the intervening time has made the information of the film even more relevant.
While the intention of our group was to provide information for attendees to consider and discern, for those who wish to become active participants in changing the current political policies and narrative, we encourage learning more about how to take action. There are many ways to be involved! It is our hope, especially after viewing this film (which is also available to stream online), you will understand the importance of doing something. At Ely Indivisible we can help you find your place for action.  We encourage you to learn more at elyindivisible.org or reach out at reachus@elyindivisible.org .
