Letter writer overlooks a few things

In the Jan. 23 Timberjay, the writer from Winton (‘Democrats Are Useful Idiots’) hits the nail squarely on the head in his first paragraph – “inciting armed conflict of Americans against Americans is not leadership, but lunacy.” Except he’s a little shaky on the source of the incitement, which I’m pretty sure wasn’t Tim Walz, unless Walz somehow mysteriously conjured up the horde of ICE agents wreaking havoc in our state – or unless he conspired with Donald Trump to affect the same.
Let’s be clear – the ICE agents operating in Minnesota appear to be amateurish, poorly trained thugs. And after killing two people under highly suspicious circumstances, without so much as an inquiry, these entitled thugs probably think they can act with impunity.
Former acting director of ICE, John Sandweg, has criticized current ICE tactics as “overly aggressive and confrontational,” which he claims “undermines public trust and represents an unprecedented escalation in enforcement.” He’s also raised concerns about the rapid expansion of ICE, leading to a reduction in training and operational standards, the results of which we’re seeing on a daily basis with unorganized, overly aggressive, poorly trained ‘pretend’ cops.
So, who’s really ‘inciting armed conflict’ here? Clearly, Donald J. Trump, since it would give him the justification for invoking the Insurrection Act or even declaring martial law. Ultimately, in his mind, it might even justify canceling the midterm elections, which he must know are likely to go badly for him.
But the writer from Winton sees only “incompetent democrats” and “that corrupt idiot Walz,” even as he worships at the feet of the most painfully incompetent and corrupt president in history. And in typical Trumpian style, he resorts to childish insults – “Tampon Tim” – SO original. Did you think of that all by yourself, Mike?
One final thought – if Joe Biden were still president and had instigated this mess in our cities, or if he’d said any of the crazy, unhinged things Trump has said recently, the Republicans would be losing their minds, screaming for impeachment, or for invoking the 25th Amendment.
