ELY — The Ely Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Celebrate Ely Business Networking Dinner on Thursday, April 9, at the Grand Ely Lodge, with this year’s event carrying a patriotic theme in honor of America’s 250th birthday.
The evening will feature a keynote address from Col. Mark “The Spark” Johnson, a retired Green Beret with 21 years of service who has operated in more than 50 countries. His presentation, “Achieving Success Beyond Expectations,” will draw on military leadership and motivation principles for an audience of local business owners, educators and community members.
The Chamber will also present four annual awards during the event: the Jackpine Bob Cary Community Spirit Award, the Good Neighbor Business Award, the Good Citizen Volunteer of the Year, and the Excellence in Customer Service Award. Guests are encouraged to dress as a favorite American hero or historical era, or simply come in flannel and jeans. A prize will go to the best-dressed attendee.
The evening begins with a social hour at 4:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 5:45 p.m. featuring a Northwoods-inspired menu. The awards ceremony and keynote are scheduled to follow.
Tickets are $30 for the general public and $25 for veterans. The purchase deadline is April 3. Tickets can be reserved by calling 218-365-6123, emailing director@ely.org, or visiting the Chamber office at 15 S. 4th Ave. W. More information is available at ely.org/celebrateely.
