REGIONAL- Two Babbitt residents were injured in a side-by-side ATV rollover early Sunday along Pulkinen Road near Waasa Township.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at about 12:45 a.m. The side-by-side reportedly rolled near a curve in the road.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, a 32-year-old Babbitt man who was driving was airlifted to an area hospital due to the severity of his injuries. His passenger, a 22-year-old Babbitt woman, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
There were no witnesses, but investigators believe both occupants were ejected. Neither was wearing a helmet.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. The names of those involved are being withheld while the crash remains under investigation and possible charges are considered.
