Iran is facing “the most precarious moment in its modern history,” according to David Ignatius of The Washington Post. “Israel’s attacks have left Iran nearly naked to attack and could drive Iran to gain a nuclear arsenal.”
Trump, with his unreasonable, impetuous action in his first term, withdrew the U.S. from the Iranian Nuclear Agreement. He also withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord.
The agreement was signed by five nations after months and months of negations, and more than 100 countries voiced their support for the deal. It was the best solution to prevent Iran from creating nuclear bombs for which they already had the materials and knowhow to make. The agreement permitted 24-hour inspections at any time and at any location in Iran.
Now that Iran appears to be vulnerable; this condition is likely to energize Iran to build and to use nuclear capacity. It has the knowhow and the necessary materials, including enriched uranium to make nuclear bombs.
Trump’s obtuseness may lead to an unnecessary war.
