ORR — The town will be wrapped in ribbon and twinkling lights on Dec. 6 as two Orr holiday celebrations roll out on the same day. Snow City Christmas and Orr Center Christmas will turn the community into a full-day winter festival, giving families plenty of chances to shop, eat, listen to music, and soak in the season.
Snow City Christmas kicks off first at the Orr Community Center with the Orr Fire Department’s pancake breakfast from 7 to 9:30 a.m., a long-running tradition that sets the tone for the day. Holiday vendors open at 8 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. Kids games begin at 11 a.m., and Sugarlicious and others will start serving lunch at 11 as well.
Snow City’s annual parade kicks off at noon, bringing the familiar mix of floats, holiday characters, and bundled-up spectators along the route. After the parade, Santa heads to Pattenn’s Cafe for photos and visits with families.
The Orr Center joins the festivities from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Orr Center Christmas features vendors, coffee and cookies, a silent auction, and an open thrift shop for holiday bargain hunters. The highlight this year is an indoor forest of 20 decorated Christmas trees, each created by community groups and families.
Music rounds out the day’s festivities. Uncle Eric performs at The Dam at 2 p.m., and Cowboy Angel Blue takes the stage at the Orr Muni from 7-10 p.m.
With both events happening the same day, Orr will be about as merry as it gets. Whether folks come for the parade, the shopping, the music, or just to take in the decorated trees, Dec. 6 promises to be one of the most spirited Saturdays of the season.
