A pickup truck rollover on Hwy. 169 about 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24 appears to have avoided any official reporting by law enforcement, at least to date.
A witness who was nearly struck by the white Ford F-150 extended cab, reported that the accident occurred near the turnoff to Docks On Wheels, about five miles west of Ely. The witness said he was traveling southbound with a work crew from Docks on Wheels and they were making a left-hand turn onto Twin Lakes Rd. near the end of their
workday when the white pickup attempted to pass on the righthand shoulder at high speed. The
pickup lost control and struck an embankment,
sending the pickup rolling and spinning out onto the highway, where it came to rest upside down in the northbound lane.
The work crew and others who witnessed the crash rushed to the vehicle to help the occupants, two of whom appeared to have suffered at least minor injuries. Ely police, the State Patrol, and Ely
paramedics responded to the scene, but it appears none of the individuals involved in the crash were transported. The incident may still be under
investigation but there have been no official reports on the crash to date.
