VERMILION LAKE TOWNSHIP— A 49-year-old resident here is in the St. Louis County Jail after his arrest for possession and sale of methamphetamines on July 10.

Robert James Yernatich was remanded to county custody, with no bail, following his arraignment in a St. Louis County courtroom on July 12. Yernatich was taken into custody by members of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force after they executed a search warrant at the Black Bear Café, where Yernatich works. Yernatich’s late parents were the longtime operators of the café, and he has been involved in the operation of the bar and restaurant since their deaths.

According to a statement issued by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers recovered 128 grams of meth and a large amount of cash during their search. In addition to the methamphetamine charge, Yernatich is facing charges of possession of ammunition and a stun gun by a convicted felon.

Yernatich was previously convicted on felony drug charges in 2015, 2013, and 2007.
