TOWER— As expected, the Tower City Council, on Monday, unanimously approved a development agreement with Nordic Business Development Inc., that clears the way to move forward with a planned town home development at the city’s harbor. With the development agreement approved, Mayor Josh Carlson and NBDI principal Orlyn Kringstad, held a brief signing ceremony on Wednesday.

The town homes will encompass the first phase of a multi-phase development that NBDI representatives hope to implement over the next ten years. The company is focused primarily on harbor-related development initially, but is also interested in possible Main Street projects as well.

As part of the agreement approved Monday, NBDI agrees to spearhead the development of an overall master plan, which they call the Tower 2025 Vision Plan, that would encompass sustainability guidelines and provide consistency as future development proceeds. Company officials are currently contacting potential members to serve on that planning process.

NBDI officials have indicated they believe Tower could become a national or international model for sustainable rural development, which they say would be attractive to future investors and new residents.
