For 68 years the North Star Stampede has been staged on the last full weekend in July by the Pitzen family of Effie, and this year's edition was one of the best in recent memory. The arena was packed with spectators all three days of the event, with a standing room only sellout for Saturday's session. Timberjay photographer David Colburn was there Saturday and Sunday to capture images of familiar favorites and newcomers from the newspaper's main coverage area.
