Lorraine Johnson

Lorraine Raida Johnson, of Lake Vermilion-Tower, and formerly of Embarrass, passed away peacefully at the J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park, under the wonderful care of their staff and her family. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the noon memorial service on Saturday, March 24 at Bauman Family Funeral Home in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Interment will be at West Pike Cemetery later in the spring. Family services are provided by Bauman-Vermilion, a Bauman Family Funeral Home in Virginia.

She is survived by her sister, Loretta (Richard) Rehberg of Balsam Lake, Wis.; brother, William Raida of Pike Township; children, Aubrey (Eny) Johnson of Anoka, Merleen (Mike) Knott of Red Lake Falls and Lowell (Nuvia) Johnson of Bruno; grandchildren, Kevin, Christopher, Jonathan, April, Grant, Brett, Chelsey, Armani and Gianni; great-grandchildren, Avory, Autumn, Wilder, Hailey, Summer, Jett and Oklei; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many friends she has made over the years, including Lois and Rodger.

George E. Miller

George E. Miller, 89, of Embarrass, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital. Per George’s request, there will be no formal services.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley; sons, James (Janette) Miller of Rosemount and Joe Miller of Excelsior; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Patricia North

Patricia Smith Willman North, 77, of Ely, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in Side Lake. Arrangements are with Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.

She is survived by her sons, Jack (Kirsten) Willman of Detroit Lakes, Patrick (Lori) O’Toole of Side Lake and Randy Willman of Ely; daughter, Sandra Willman of Ely; sister, Dorothy (Duane) Thunstrom of Detroit Lakes; and grandchildren, Gerry Willman, Rianen Willman, Nathon Willman, Tony (Kristen) Farley and Misty Willman.

Patricia L. Sterbenk

Patricia Leah Edwards Sterbenk, 86, of Babbitt, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church with inurnment at a later date. Lunch will be served following the service. Flowers welcome, please no plants. Memorials are preferred to Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt or Presbyterian Mission Agency. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.

She is survived by her daughters, Lolly (Bruce) Naslund of Circle Pines and Jackie (Peter) Lund of Bemidji; grandchildren, Stacy Naslund of Bloomington, Alyn (Rachel) Naslund of Omaha, Neb., and Andrew (Katie) Lund of Duluth; great-granddaughter, Blake Margery Naslund; sister, Laurel Shepel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she held close to her heart.
