Peg Pinckney

The Jim Pinckney family is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, Peg Pinckney, on Saturday, May 26, 2018. A family memorial will be held at a later date. She was an incredible lady and will be greatly missed by her family.

Charlene K. Ploof

Charlene Kay Mastin Ploof, 62, of Pike Township, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehab Center in Eveleth after a short battle with cancer. Memorial services were held on Monday, June 4 at Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia with Hospice Chaplain Jeffrey Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the West Pike Cemetery. The family would like to thank the East Range Hospice team and the staff at St. Raphael’s for the care they provided.

She is survived by her children, Anita (Kyle) Lantz of Embarrass, Jesse (April) Ploof of Angora and Amanda Ploof of Tower; grandchildren, Miranda, Ethan and Nathan; parents, Harold and Alvera Mastin of Virginia; sister, Sharon (Mike) Wrobel of Virginia; brother, Ron (Tammy) Mastin of Embarrass; favorite niece, Tanya Mastin and favorite nephew, Shawn Mastin, both of Frazee; sisters-in-law, Claudia Mastin of Frazee, Beverly Rowland of Bagley, Teresa (Paul) De Breto of Malmo and Tammy (Pat) Donaldson of Biwabik; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Sheila “Shebear” Banttari.

Janet M. Rhein

Janet Marie Kramar Rhein, of Ely, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Essentia Health in Virginia. A memorial service was held on Friday, June 1 at Range Funeral Home. Deacon Dan Schultz officiated. Arrangements were with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

She is survived by her sons, David (Julie) and Mike (Pat) Rhein; daughter, Sandy (Paul) Venne; grandchildren, Triston, April (Leo), Katie, Eric (Sara) and Tyler (Joselyn); great-granddaughter, Isabell; sisters, Francis and Norma Kramar; brother-in-law, Allen (Betty) Rhein; and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph Thiel

Ralph Thiel, 86, of Virginia, formerly of Babbitt, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 26 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia with Pastor Nathan Sager officiating. Military rites were accorded by the Virginia Servicemen’s Honor Guard. Burial was in Argo Cemetery in Babbitt. Arrangements were with Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Kathy) and Kelly (Kaye) Thiel; daughters, Elizabeth (Scott) Brusehaver and Jean (Rick) Enrooth; son-in-law, Harry Ostendorf; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy; sister, Delores Herr; brothers, David, Dennis and Stephen Thiel; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Blessed be his memory, he will be dearly missed.
