ROCK RIDGE— Competing against a bevy of larger schools, the NER/Ely swimmers finished fifth among six teams here on Tuesday, with top five finishes in three contests. Rock Ridge and Mesabi East duked it out for the first and second spots respectively in the team scoring, with Rock Ridge topping the field with 468 points to the Giants’ 446.
For NER/Ely, Via DeBeltz notched a fourth place finish in a field of 16 racers in the 200 freestyle, with a time of 2:18.47. Anna Larson notched a fourth place finish in a field of a dozen racers in the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:11.3 and she took fifth among 18 racers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.98.
The NER/Ely swimmers head to Cloquet next Tuesday and will return to action Oct. 17 to host International Falls.
