FIELD TWP – Coming off of a 26-win season, there was little doubt North Woods had a talented team. The main question was where the points would come from.

One game in, the answer seems pretty clear: everywhere.

Employing an array of sharp shooting, North Woods nearly cracked the century-mark as it steamrolled visiting Bigfork 96-75 in Tuesday’s season opener.

Tate Olson could barely miss, shooting 13-of-15 from the field in amassing 30 points.

Cade Goggleye netted 20 points, Brendan Parson scored 17 and George Bibeau put in 14 to join Olson in double figures.

Tanner Lokken added nine points and Isaiah Squires, Chase Kleppe and Tanner Barto contributed two apiece.

The Grizzlies hit 17-of-21 free throws.

“Typical first game,” North Woods head coach Will Kleppe said. “A little chaotic at times while we continue to build our team chemistry. Good scoring attack and a solid performance from the free-throw line.”
