Why block the success of others?

It’s really too bad that barriers are being thrown in the way of the business re-launch of Sue Schurke’s Northwoods Apparel. It is obvious Sue truly loves what she does and wants to succeed. In doing so she provides our small town with great clothing and much needed jobs.

Five years ago I started my own small business, Warm and Cozy Rental Clothing that supplies Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge patrons as well as many other visitors to our area with proper winter clothing so that they can enjoy our winter climate. I did this with the full support and encouragement of Sue and Paul Schurke. Like all small businesses, I invested a substantial amount of money and countless hours to make my business succeed. In doing so I’ve been able to begin to support my young family through the lean winter months. The Schurkes certainly understand how important that support is because they provide jobs to young families who otherwise may not be able to stay in our area. My business plays an important role in our tourist economy. A vibrant community must have a variety of industries all supporting each other because each business contributes to the success of a community as a whole.

As Sue continues to pursue her business re-launch I hope that she remembers how important it is to mutually support each other and our businesses. It is a shame when barriers are thrown in the way of others’ success.
