TOWER— Firefighters here had an early wake-up call on July 4, when one of the department's two buildings caught fire sometime before 5 a.m.
Firefighters from Tower and Breitung Township worked for almost three hours to control the blaze, which damaged a significant amount of equipment that was stored in the building, located adjacent to the main fire hall.
Unofficially, it appears a battery charger may have been to blame for the fire, according to fire officials. The blaze remains under investigation.
