Timberwolves fall in five

ELY—The home court advantage wasn’t enough for Ely on Tuesday, as the Timberwolves suffered a heart breaking five-game loss to Littlefork-Big Falls, falling to 1-2 on the season.

The match was back and forth all night. Ely took the opener with a convincing 25-19 win. But the Vikings rallied to take the next two, winning 25-21 and 25-23 respectively. Ely jumped out in game four to win 25-19 and force a deciding game, which they lost 15-9.

Stat leaders for the Wolves included Brielle Kallberg with 11 kills, five ace serves and 23 digs, Kenzie Peterson with nine kills and seven ace serves, Erika Mattson with eight kills, Lida Dodge with 20 set assists and Kalley Fischer with 26 digs.

Littlefork-Big Falls was led by Kaylee Kennedy with 12 kills and Sydney Wendt with 34 set assists.

The Timberwolves were set to attend the Greenway tournament on Saturday. They’ll host International Falls on Tuesday, starting at 7 p.m.
