Sign up today for the 6th annual Let’s take a Kid Fishing event

Tower— There’s still time to sign up for the 6th annual Let’s Take A Kid Fishing event.

The event, which takes place Wednesday, July 15, is open to any kid ages 10-15. Each kid goes out with an experienced guide to enjoy an afternoon of fishing on arguably one of the best lakes in the state of Minnesota.

The guides teach the kids the basics about fishing and then are treated to a complimentary fish fry by Fortune Bay Resort Casino at the Fraser Bay landing.

Each kid registered gets a free hat, T-shirt and other fishing related items, including a combo fishing rod and reel!

The deadline is July 8 or when the event reaches 100 kids, whichever occurs first.

‘This event continues to grow every year,” said Ed Tausk, who has organized the event with assistance from the Lake Vermilion Guides League, Sportsmen Club of Lake Vermilion and other community sponsors. “It gives kids an opportunity to learn about the great sport of fishing here on Lake Vermilion.”

Tausk said the great thing about this event is that kids don’t have to bring any gear as the guides provide the rods and reels, bait and Personal Flotation Devices.

“They can bring their own water and snacks on the boat, but we handle everything else—including the fish fry at the end of the event,” said Tausk.

The event runs from noon until 5 p.m. Parents or guardians can join the kids for the fish fry, which also includes hot dogs, beverages and dessert.

To register, call Tim “Buck” Lescarbeau at 218-969-1022 or apply on-line at www.lakevermilion.com/kids!
