Lynn G. Henningsgaard

Lynn Gerald Henningsgaard, 64 of Lake Vermillion, died on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, in Grand Rapids. A memorial service was held at Colony Square in Grand Rapids on Sunday, Sept. 4 with Rev. Russell Christensen officiating. Arrangements were by Rowe Funeral Home and Crematory of Grand Rapids

Lynn was born in 1947 to Gerald and Charlotte Henningsgaard in St. Cloud. He grew up and attended schools in St. Cloud and graduated from Technical High School. Lynn worked in sales for Sears Roebuck and Co. and then was sales manager for Bostwick’s. He also was a national retail consultant with the G.A. Wright Company. He moved to Louisiana 13 years ago and began his home improvement work with his friend Paul Gremillion. Lynn moved from Louisiana to Arkansas and finally to Lake Vermillion in 2007. He dedicated his life to serving others through humble empowerment and trusting the God within.

Lynn is survived by four children, Carie Leske of Granite Falls, Tracy Folkerts of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bradley Henningsgaard of Mooreville, N.C., and Jennifer Dunne of Peoria, Ariz.; his mother, Charlotte Henningsgaard of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Judy Cromett of West Seattle, Wash., and Debra Henningsgaard of Chico, Calif.; one brother, John (JoAnne) Henningsgaard of Bemidji; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Henningsgaard.

Richard L. Mitchell

A Celebration of Life for Richard L. Mitchell, of Babbitt, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Aurora Methodist Church.

Joseph Bedi Jr.

Joseph “Joe” Bedi Jr., 28, of Cook, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Memorial services were held on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook with Rev. Arthur Dale officiating. A reception in Joe’s honor followed at the Cook VFW.  

Joe was born on Dec.18, 1982, in Winfield, Ill., and grew up in Elmhurst, Ill.

He moved to Cook in 1992, where he attended the Cook school. He loved the outdoors of northern Minnesota where he enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt and motor bike riding, camping and his woods work. He loved his work as a logger and also worked in heating and air conditioning repair. He was a superior handyman and could always figure out of how to get the job done. His family fondly recalls his good, caring nature, his special connection with kids, and the love of music – especially “loud” music. He was a friend to many and will be sadly missed.

Joe is survived by his parents, Kathryn and Mike Tupy of Gheen and Joseph Sr. and Vicki Bedi of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandparents, Karoly and Katalin Bedi of Addison, Ill., and LaVerne Tupy of Cook; two sisters, Lisa (Mark Lindgren) Bedi of Linden Grove and Tina (Matthew) DeMarco of Woodridge, Ill.; numerous special aunts and uncles, including Jack and Diane Ervin of Angora; one nephew, Logan Michael DeMarco; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Adolph and Evelyn Haecker and Roy Tupy.

Anthony F. Wold

Anthony Frederick “Tony” Wold, 33, of Virginia, died on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at SMDC-Essentia Health in Duluth. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Range Funeral Home in Virginia, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Tony is survived by his father, Dennis Wold of Cloquet; mother, Barbara (David) Mitchell of Babbitt; two daughters, Brittany and Nevaeh of Virginia; a brother, Bryan (Sandy Peterson) Wold of Anoka; grandparents, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Walter W. Salo

Walter W. Salo, 97, of Embarrass, died on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center in Tower. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 9 at Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass with Rev. Ben Buchanan officiating. Arrangements were with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. He is survived his grandsons, Roger and Russell Salo, both of Embarrass and Nick (Shelly) Sarkela of Minneapolis; granddaughters, Susan (Lawrence) Kohanek of Mankato, Terry (Doug) Elfstrom of Eden Prairie, Cynthia (Frank) Dilegame of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Kathy Salo of Sitka, Alaska; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one stepson, Bernie (Diane) Sarkela of Tower; and one sister, Gertrude of San Diego, Calif.

Fannie E. Fenske

Fannie Elmi Fenske, 93, of Ely, died on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, in the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 9 at First Lutheran Church in Ely with Pastor John Bonk officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home. She is survived by her three daughters, Janice (Denis) Seidl, Betty (John) Matschiner and Kathleen (James) Saari; two sons, Sheldon (Ruthanne) Fenske and Mel (Cindy) Fenske; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special nephew, Gary Stromberg, always made her day with his visits and spiritual fellowship. She also had special friends in Rudy and Sue Scufsa of the Pines, who provided attentive and loving adult foster care.
