Johnson will be a strong advocate for District 3A

Posted

Voters in Minnesota House District 3A have a choice to make in replacing David Dill. Dave served this area well and accomplished so much for our area and will be greatly missed.

Eric Johnson from International Falls is running on the DFL ticket and has pledged to be a “moderate” Democrat and will work like Mr. Dill on both sides of the aisle to get legislation passed to benefit all people in NE MN, exactly as Dill did so successfully.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Eric Johnson stated at the debate at Vermilion Community College, that we need to have a representative in St. Paul to work with both the Republicans and Democrats to get legislation into law for our region. A bipartisan approach to getting bills passed- not more party politics and more gridlock.

Eric Johnson is a strong supporter of: MINING, LOGGING, ATV and SNOWMOBILE TRAILS.

PolyMet and Twin Metals must move forward providing good and well-paying jobs.

Eric Johnson will work to maintain and increase aid to cities and townships.

In 1964, Congress passed the Wilderness Act. This legislation mandates that where “School Trust Lands “ were surrounded by designated wilderness, that those lands cannot be sold but only exchanged- acre for acre. There are about 122,247 acres in the BWCAW in state ownership. Of this, approximately 93,260 of these are Trust Fund Lands.

The U.S. Forest Service is attempting to buy 56,295 acres illegally. This would result in a huge loss of economic benefits for Minnesota schools.

Eric Johnson will fight to maintain the 1964 Act and insure that all lands are exchanged and not sold.

Eric Johnson will support the preservation of public land for outdoor recreation, hunting and fishing rights, and the rights of snowmobilers and ATV riders.

Longtime anti-mining advocate Bill Hansen has a long-standing track record against mining in Northeast Minnesota. Hansen is one of the four candidates in the DFL primary. He has stated that if PolyMet moves forward there will be crime, prostitution, and gambling because of the man camps that will be created! Scare tactics and intimidation. These disgraceful and offensive remarks degrade the good men and women in NE Minnesota. His group has also recently said that if PolyMet is opened that runoff water will now flow north into the BWCAW—WOW! Interesting enough- no water has been able to do that when Erie opened their plant in Hoyt Lakes, or US Steel or when Inland began.

I have traveled with Eric Johnson the past few weeks. We have met with many of you. We have listened to your concerns and comments. Eric will represent you well. To those who have offered to put up signs, hand out cards and spread the word about Eric- THANK YOU!

Your vote in this primary election is imperative to maintain our freedoms, our rights, and our future.

PLEASE VOTE ERIC JOHNSON.
