Hujanen would bring real change to county board

Posted

I am not one to stand for any disrespectful mudslinging.  I don’t have that intention in mind at all. I am doing my research of both SLC Commissioner candidates as I am sure all of you are. I have come upon a few things I would like to share.

When searching Tom Rukavina there is much to say about his political career. 26 years in the legislature, quite a detailed history.  There isn’t much to be said though about what he has done for the Iron Range. A lot of “good old boys” patting him on the back for being a spitfire at the podium, and for his vehement speeches in regard to the cause of the moment. Focusing on the finance and monies but nothing about the people in the area.  Then I found an article in regard to his reason for retiring, and a quote from the man himself stating...”times have changed, and I haven’t, so it’s time for a new direction.”

Whether we recognize change happens or even occurs, the fact is, that it does.  It is inevitable and although at times, hard to accept, in this district, it is severely needed.

As I read about candidate Christina Hujanen, her list of community leadership roles is extensive.  It, too, has taken her away from our beautiful Iron Range and around the world.  Yet she brings home, here to us, her knowledge of the groups and organizations where she has sat on boards and served as an elected member.  I read daily through social media about her constant presence in our communities and I believe she is truly connected to the way of life here in our district.

It is time for a change here in St. Louis County.  Perhaps it is best that the seasoned politician stay in retirement and enjoy his family and we give Hujanen a chance. To show us what her vision is for our county. To breathe new air into the male dominated board and trust that this is a time for progress.

For me its Christina, not Rukavina!
