Hillman’s column was on the mark

Kudos to Mike Hillman for his succinct and powerful comparison of iron mining and sulfide mining. They are indeed radically different propositions. For a Twin Metals representative to liken the pH factor of orange juice to the pH factor of sulfuric acid is so disingenuous it’s insulting. I suppose our local politicians, grasping at straws, will soon be urging the IRR Board to fund some citrus export grants. Sulfide mining in northeastern Minnesota has one inevitable result: long term environmental disaster for some speculative short term gain. Take a trip to Butte, Montana or Sudbury, Ontario if you’d like a glimpse of the future that sulfide mining will provide.
