LAKE VERMILION – Classic boats from across the Midwest will be featured at the 26th annual Lake Vermilion Antique and Classic Boat Show, set for Sept. 4, at The Landing on Vermilion’s western tip. The show, which usually attracts about 40 boats, runs from noon to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is free.

Jeff Stebbins, who helps organize the annual show, said lunch will be available at The Landing during the event and Al Phillips will provide the musical entertainment, beginning at noon. Spectators will have the chance to weigh in on their favorite boat, and prizes will be offered for People’s Choice and Skippers’ Choice winners. Those attending will also have the opportunity to see the firefighting and air boats owned and operated by the Lake Vermilion Firefighting Brigade, an honorary sponsor of the boat show.

Event t-shirts and hats will be available for sale and Bob Matson, Timberjay columnist and author of “What’s in Your Boathouse?” will have books for sale and signing.

Those arriving by boat can anchor their watercraft in the bay near The Landing. A complimentary shuttle pontoon will deliver spectators to the boat show from the bay.

The boat show has been a staple of the region for a quarter-century. Originally it was held at the Vermilion Dam Lodge and later moved to Bay View. Since then, it has been held at The Landing every Labor Day weekend.
