A ruined BWCAW isn’t much of a political legacy

As a lifelong DFLer, I am quite cognizant of the oft-repeated adage that no one can win a state-wide election without carrying the 8th District. Interestingly, although the last DFL convention opened with a prayer from an Anishinaabe leader, the convention quickly abandoned any consideration of Mother Earth and the candidates kowtowed for support from whichever Iron Range clique was the most vocal. In my opinion, our state-wide elected leaders, specifically, Klobuchar, Franken, Nolan and Dayton have become invertebrates, caring only for votes in 2014 at the tragic expense of the environment. And as an Eagles Nest property owner, it is disconcerting that our elected officials have lost their environmental compass and ethos. Nowhere on this planet has copper-nickel mining been done without destroying water resources. Please keep in mind that water pollution is eternal. If PolyMet succeeds, the legacy of Klobuchar, Franken, Nolan and Dayton will be that they destroyed the BWCAW.
