I would like to know what happened to the Bio- mass grants that ISD 2142 received to put biomass heat sources into the Cook, Babbitt and Tower-Soudan schools.
JCI contends that these are the 3 most expensive buildings to heat. I realize their data was complied at a time when fuel prices were at an all time high. It is understandable if their data is no longer accurate as those projections were based on huge price increases instead of the price that was actually paid during this heating season. The actual price of propane for the 09/10 heating season was .99 cents per gallon. If we are no longer in need of a supplimental heating system please give us the new data showing the ACTUAL costs to heat our buildings, and why the biomass heat sorce was unneeded.
As a taxpayer I feel I have a right to know where the money from this grant went and why the systems were never implemented.

It had been erroneously reported by some posters on the Timberjay website that JCI's contract included the costs for Krause-Anderson. Reading the contract it seems to me that it states JCI is able to hire other consultants and construction companies. They will not be paying for the costs associated with those contracts. The ISD 2142 taxpayers will be paying those costs.
I also understand that your contract with JCI was 2% less then the average. That was very nice of this multi million dollar company to give us this break. Although in my opinion after receiving almost 1/2 million dollars from our district in the past year I think it was also the right thing to do. As a taxpayer I would also like to know if Krause- Anderson will be just as "nice" to our district. I realize they spent money out of pocket to get the vote passed so they probably do not have the extra money to give us that same deal.
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
Greentea,
I am glad to see you read the contract and have some questions. We need to ask them so we get answers to questions we have. I did ask the heating question a while back as I had the same question. I was given an answer but I do not want to quote it as I can not remember all of it. Keep on reading and asking it is important.
I understand biomass grant $$ will be used at the new north school for a biomass boiler heating system. Sounds like they are hoping to use locally produced Hill Biomass products, if possible.
ok im a bit confused; where do you get the information that k-a isnt included ? i would really like to see that information.
nice to see you clarify "as a taxpayer" and its good to see questions misc posted from you that dont reek of disdain and smell more of respect.
Copies of the contract with JCI is available at the district office in Virginia. It is a personal (professional) services contract only. I believe Greentea is correct. I have read the contract, too. Posters interested should pick up their own copy when they are in Virginia.
everything i read (and hear directly from the horse's mouth)
includes k-a. but i will make an effort to check it out further.
