Report Inappropriate Comments

This reader read the DNR’s Moose Study Reports and realized that if I, with no wildlife biology degree, could see that their plan fell short, shows you the low level of intelligent forethought on their part. You would think that if they have so much knowledge and experience, they would know better than they apparently do, and would do everything in their power to minimize negative treatment of our imperiled Moose, rather than Add to their demise. But, they didn’t and they don’t. We can see why in this article.

It’s more than obvious that Butler was fired because she is honest and refused to participate in the "big boys" animal abuse and stroke their fragile egos at the same time. She defied them in the name of doing what's right on behalf of the animals, and refused to be used by them to hurt fragile moose calves. And, they didn't like it. Typical B.S. retaliation tactics. Have seen it all before. She refused to be strong armed into agreeing with and signing their lies about her. Office politics at its worst with 2 known egotistical, arrogant, condescending, lying DNR officials. You can't believe a thing Niskanen says either. He's skilled at manipulating words in order to create and project a false message and thereby control the public’s impressions and thoughts. A real obvious example was his press release about the main reason for the declining moose population in Minnesota being wolves and bears - and right before wolf and bear hunting seasons. It’s not true, and the DNR's own records and reports show that. Could the DNR's agenda have been any more obvious? That's the kind of lie and manipulation he, as the DNR's PR person, puts out there. And, he does it all with the encouragement and support of Landwehr, Cornicelli, DelGuidice, Boggess, and other top DNR officials.

“Butler said she’d like to see some level of accountability for the errors made by those who have led the moose calf study. She notes that she was required to justify her own work in 2013, when the adult moose study experienced a far less dramatic 3.6 percent mortality rate as a result of capture. She said DelGuidice had approached top DNR officials, blaming the mortalities on Butler’s tranquilizer dosing calculations. At the time, DelGuidice had described the mortality rate as “much too high.” But its ok if he and his team have a higher mortality rate? Typical “pass the buck” behavior. Make her look bad so he looks good and keeps getting those raises and bonuses, and makes getting rid of her look like she deserved it. Damage her reputation while looking out for his own. That shows what he’s made of and what his values are. Lack of ethics and integrity. He’s in the right place because they’re all like that. They keep proving it to us over and over.

Of course Corniceli is going to defend DelGiuidice. What do you expect? "Cornicelli defended DelGuidice, who he said has a “deep compassion and respect” for the animals he studies. “He is highly regarded by his peers and carries both a national and international reputation as a leading research scientist in this field,” said Cornicelli. “Glenn is not only active in the research community but also mentors graduate students and participates in a wide array of outreach and scholarly activities.” What a bunch of meaningless B.S. by Cornicelli. Nothing but empty Public Relations words that don’t say a thing about Honesty, Integrity, Ethics, Transparency, or lacks thereof. It’s meant to do nothing more than to make DelGuidice look like he’s such a great guy and Butler is the bad guy/ gal. All of those top tier "good old boys" stick up for each other. They're buddies. They cover each other's backs regardless of whether or not it’s justified or ethical. Do you think any of them would tell the truth and rat each other out? Heck no. They conspire, plot and conceal together. They have years and years worth of dirt on each other and certainly aren’t going to risk it all being exposed by going against each other. They are what is so wrong with the department.

“ While Butler contends that her ouster from the DNR was related to her comments regarding the moose calf study, DNR officials say they can’t comment legally. But Cornicelli suggested that disagreements over methods aren’t cause for dismissal. “In any team environment, we encourage intellectual debate and discourse,” said Cornicelli. “In the end, it often results in a better outcome.” “As for the value of the study, Cornicelli said it’s too early to tell. “Field wildlife research is a slow, thoughtful, and often complicated process. I haven’t reached any conclusions,” he said.” – This reader says B.S.! The bottom line is this: If they want to get rid of a person, they will come up with all the trumped up charges they can think of in order to make it all sound legitimate and justified. I’ve seen it too many times before and it’s always the same scenario and methods. This situation is no different It’s another example of office politics at its worst.

The Department as a whole is a bad joke on Minnesota and has been for a long time.
