I have worked in various occupations for all of my 58 years. Half the time I had employer paid insurance, when I didn't have it, I bought my own. I had a child as a single patent. I switched jobs for better hours and health care. I never took a dime of tax dollars in welfare. Personal responsibility rather than " if it feels good do it" is the problem! I am sick and very tired of paying for the mistakes and poor life choices of the irresponsible. I do not have a college degree, but right now I'm making 80 k a year. What has happened to gumption and shame? I thank God every day I was raised the way I was.
I am not speaking of the elderly or truly handicapped here. Fully 50% of the people on the dole can get off of their butts and be productive. Unfortunately, doing nothing pays more.
