I would have to agree with Bill. A simple web search shows that Charter rates are over $3000.00 per hour. I bet that doesn't even include hidden fuel surcharges or FET taxes. With those charges, I bet the costs are almost close to $4000.00 per hour.

Looking further on the web, I see the direct operating costs of an XLS runs about $1733.38 per hour. If you think about it, a one hour trip each way with 8 passengers is only $433.35 per person. If this is a day trip, you would save on hotel rooms for 8 people and car rentals and I bet a meal or two... Seems pretty inexpensive to me.

If I had to bet, I think Mr. Huhta got his facts confused. He confused the less expensive direct operating costs of the airplane with what he thought were the charter rates.

Hey we all make mistakes. I guess personally I would want to check my work before I talk to the press and publish an article. At the very least, back it up like I did with some web links.

That is why I love to fact check these sort of articles.
